*Official* New Zealand in Zimbabwe 2025 (Tests)

Stop the presses: first time in test history that 3 left handers have made scores of 150+ in a test innings.

    Why T20, why not T30?

...dominant, and in control instead of fluky. But usually it's a bunch of premature nuts and sad wickets. Even when a batsman finishes the innings well, I'm left wanting more, feeling like he just got into flow. This is like 90+ % of the innings, even winning ones. I thought initially when...

Was SF barnes a spin bowler or pace bowler?

...he did come of the pitch quicker than one expected because of his fine body action and perfect timing. Consequently a batsman after a long innings against him would have a bruised right hand as a result of the constant jarring from the bat handle after the ball hit the blade. He wanted the...

Just the 3rd time in history 3 batsmen scored over 150 in a test innings.

    Harold Larwood vs Barry Richards

Was wondering why you were going on and on, but then decided to take a peek at the poll results and understood. It is possible to make you case for Larwood without bringing 4 tests every couple of sentences.

Is Javed Miandad an ATG test batsman?

Yes 17 overall LBW dismissals 10 at home in 108 innings – 92/1000 chance of LBW dismissals 7 overseas in 106 innings – 66/1000 chance of LBW dismissals.

    Harold Larwood vs Barry Richards

...young pacer trying to find his way in a batting era. if those two are ignored he has the home average of 24 and 23 wickets to his name in 12 innings bowled at home and one albeit poor series in Australia with a match winning performance but faded at the end of the series after being...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

The Ireland Test in 2023 must be doing some heavy lifting because the Ashes weren’t THAT high-scoring (I know there were some large 4th innings scores, but IIRC 400 was only bettered once at OT)

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

I think Leeds was worse tbh. Toss became such a massive advantage there.

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

In the 1st and 4th the ball was very dominant, no 300+ scores. Sure, but that is not a new thing for England, those types of pitches have traditionally been a thing in five match serieses and there were no real consequences back then, would be weird to start being critical of them now, England...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Ball wasn't that dominant in 2018; there were plenty of 300+ innings totals. And besides, ball > bat makes for better cricket. The games being somewhat low scoring makes every single session important, whereas I sincerely think Edgbaston and Old Trafford should have been rated as poor pitches...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Just because a result is unclear on the last day doesn't automatically make it a good game of cricket. Some terrible games of cricket have abruptly become very tense on the last day because the game sped up massively. Balance between bat and ball is what's required and pre-2022 England did that...

5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

...series in 2010s England than in 2020s England, the 2017 South Africa series comes to mind where each result was obvious after the first innings, or When Pakistan toured in 2016 and almost every game was played on a road etc, The 2015 Ashes had "traditional English pitches" and was a pretty...

3rd largest innings win. Would've been 2nd if Duffy kept his foot behind the line.

Biggest win for anyone after losing 3 wickets in a test is an innings and 264 runs (Pak v Bang 2001) In 4 games, teams have won after only losing 2 wickets

This is the current record for our largest innings victory. https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/zimbabwe-tour-of-new-zealand-2011-12-520581/new-zealand-vs-zimbabwe-only-test-520591/full-scorecard I think that's about to be broken.

Yes, this is what Darren Sammy got him into this specifically for, playing these type of innings. The trust and backing is there for him.
