Dont know if it applies overall but around 2010 there was a significant change in bowlers speeds in Australia.

Distinctly remember Siddle was shown as bowling in high 130's. The previous year he, and most other pace bowlers, was shown to be in the high 140's.

The commentary of the games never mentioned the change so I assumed they recalibrated the speed guns back to reality, using better technology.
All the talk of fastest bowling ever seemed to stop around this time as well.

Dont think anyone has bowled over 150 since.

Wasn't there talk that the altitude of some of the grounds they played at made bowling speeds quicker due to the air being lower?

Though I think they were cooking it as well, lol.

That can be explained by Siddle stopping eating meat and choosing malnutrition instead

Shoaib at his peak was ferociously quick. For the question, I don’t think he bowled 100 Mph in 2003 World Cup.

He would definitely have bowled 100 mph at some point in his career. There should be little doubt that he most probably has bowled the fastest ball since the speed guns came out. Tait arguably has an argument tho.

The test in Perth where Starc was bowling around 150 kph and then purportedly produced a 160.4 kph thunderbolt out of nowhere was the most questionable one.

'Starc whistled a ball at double century-maker Ross Taylor which showed up at 160.4kmph on the screen.
The crowd roared with delight. If correct, it would be the fastest delivery recorded in tests.
However New Zealand batting coach McMillan suspects something was amiss in the speed gun technology.
"I don't know, maybe someone in the truck was having a bit of fun," McMillan said last night.
"But that delivery came out of nowhere and looked pretty similar to a lot of deliveries through the day that were closer to 150 than 160.
"I'm not sure if maybe the wrong button was pushed. But you'd have to ask Rosco (Taylor) whether it felt 10kmph quicker than any other delivery he faced."'

None of the RSA speeds seem particularly quick by their standards at the time, although Ntini is close to the max speed I remember seeing him at.

Some of the players from other teams seem surprisingly quick to me, but that might just be me being unfamiliar with the speeds they were clocked at at other times.
