I entirely echo your comments.Just consider Tom Richardson's bowling record in the seasons 1894-1897 (inclusive) including the tour to Australia 1894/95----strike rate,average,workrate----amazing and an absolutely absurdly awesome statistic.No wonder Tom Richardson was rated so highly. There’s nothing more exciting and satisfying in cricket (imo) than a bowler smashing the stumps. Richardson in his pomp was considered the quintessential fast bowler of the 19th century and his stats back it up.
