While Jacques Kallis's career statistics show a remarkable average of over 55 in 72 of his 166 matches against teams including minnows Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

he notably failed to maintain a 55+ average in any of his 154 matches against other presumably stronger cricketing nations (without zimbabwe and Bangladesh).x.com_1009379497.jpg

This might be already mentioned, but Merv Hughes is the only bowler in Test cricket history to take a hat-trick in three overs. This happened in 1988 at WACA, Perth:
First wicket: Wicket of Curtly Ambrose on the final ball of an over.
Second wicket: Final wicket (Patrick Patterson) of the West Indies innings with the first ball of his next over. The West Indies first innings got over.
Third wicket: Then in the second innings of West Indies Hughes removed the opener Gordon Greenidge with the first ball.

Mohammad Ashrafal,at the age of 17 years and 61days,is the youngest player to score a Test century---not particularly absurd but a little bit awesome.
Mohammad Ashrafal scored this century,114,on debut facing Murali and in an innings defeat---perhaps a little more awesome.
However,no fewer than fifteen players who subsequently made Test centuries on debut were born BEFORE the Bangladeshi prodigy, including Stephen Cook who made his debut Test century 14,yes 14,years later!---Now that IS absurd.
