As it was brought up in thread, some household names after 30 tests:

Bradman 3969 @92.30, 15 tons
Lara 2869 @58.55, 6 tons
V Richards 2736 @58.21, 9 tons
Hobbs 2715 @57.64, 6 tons
Hammond 2681 @59.57, 9 tons
Sobers 2636 @59.90, 8 tons
Hutton 2510 @52.29, 7 tons
Tendulkar 1963 @51.65, 7 tons
Ponting 1661 @38.62, 4 tons

(Brook: 2820 @ 57.55, 10 tons.)

Some other batsmen who had an exceptional first 30 tests:

Labuschagne: 3041 @60.82, 10 tons
Weekes: 2938 @61.20, 10 tons
Harvey: 2924 @60.91, 12 tons
Hussey: 2754 @64.04, 9 tons
H Sutcliffe: 2738 @62.22, 10 tons
D Compton: 2692 @64.09, 11 tons
Worrell: 2651 @55.22, 8 tons
Walters: 2580 @56.08, 8 tons
Morris: 2468 @51.41, 10 tons

I have a lot of confidence he'll eventually be viewed as having a career somewhere between that of Don Bradman and Marnus Labuschagne.
And here we’ve got the Fab Four for comparison.

Smith 2926 @ 58.52
Root 2586 @ 55.02
Kohli 2111 @ 43.08
Williamson 1910 @ 36.73

Whatever it takes!!!
Its a big IF but if England do lose this test, he will have outdone Siraj in doing really well and still ensuring you get remembered as the guy who cost his team the match.

And it would be so on brand and such a Harry Brook thing to do. lol

Either way, this Test will be remembered for ever more for the pair of them!

There's not one good young batter with a solid orthodox technique coming through the ranks of any test side at the moment. Not one. All are dashers and sloggers. Jaiswal, Brook, Jamie Smith.. Test batting RIP
Real shame Rhys Mariu didn't get picked for NZ vs Zimbabwe. Hopefully he'll debut against the Windies.

I'd say Cameron Green has a proper technique. He just shouldn't bat 3.

Well that was the case until 1989 because he had a **** side. The SA side Kallis played in was never as **** as 80s Aus. Few teams were. 250 was often a good day
And that doesn’t apply to Joe Root’s England? Where he made 100s by the way, because he batted up the order and didn’t hide unlike Border.

Stop pushing this bs narrative about Border. His most common batting position was 4 and he spent plenty of time at 3.

He spent more than 50% of his innings at 5 and below.
“Plenty of time at 3” - 13%. 13 ****ing percent of his innings is not “plenty of time”

In any case it was a point made that Root isn’t inferior because his teams have faced similar issues (ie teams being ****), where Root has come through with big hundreds.

I’d call almost 40 innings at a position plenty of time. No, you were trying to push some crap that Border hid down the order, when clearly he did not.

Usually, yes - but this was more about the parallels with Root’s England being crap too. And of course a jibe at the coward who hid 5 and below for 50% of his career, barely scoring any hundreds
