Brevis is not a nr.3 even less so then Mulder.

Bavuma has been great at 4, and you don't move your best bat from they're doing well. The best thing in long term would be to find another quality no 3.
Bavuma is 35 it wouldn't be long term.

He is most suited technically and mentally but he is 35 now and I guess has earnt the right to bat where he would like to & he has been good at 4. At the least I would discuss it with him and see where he stands.

Stubbs averaged 44 at no.3 during his little stint there, it wasn't a failure , Stubbs scored a 100 in Bangladesh then 2 innings later he never bats at no.3 again for Mulder , we sort of fixed something that wasn't broken.

I agree Stubbs is also an option and given their respective ages, a better option. But you have to commit. At the moment, they seem to have committed to Mulder.

I would rather see us give the #3 job to de Zorzi, Breetzke, Hermann maybe even Rickelton. Let those 4 fight it out for the numbers 2 & 3 spot. I`m less keen for Brevis in the Test team right now. And I think his position is that of 5/6. Then you can have Stubbs, Pretorius and Brevis fighting it out for the 4/5 spot. Mulder at 6, Verreynne at 7, Jansen 8.

It's weird. Mulder got promoted to number 3 in the match against Sri Lanka where he was injured which was a strange enough decision, but then they decided that's where he should now bat. I know Shukri Conrad now has a proven track record with his selections, but this one just doesn't make sense to me.

My only thought was possibly technique. Mulder has a very 'correct' technique and maybe the thought was he could handle the moving ball better? But its all very strange.

All for top talents learning on the job. Kwena is learning loads in this Protea environment but he needs a full season of FC cricket taking 5-fors and perfecting his stock ball.
Luus, Boast & CJ king all got domestic 5-fors in the longer formats this season. Kwena needs those.
