Chappell has been on quite a run, he beat Fred Trueman, he beat Raymond Lindwall, he beat Dennis Lillee and then he beat Kumar Sangakkara. Now, let's level up, can Chappell beat the indomitable Tiger O'Reilly.

Anyway, O'Reilly for me, went to England and dominated some of the strongest batting lineups of all time on flat pitches, all as a spinner, that's enough to be clear of Chappell who was basically the Australian Denis Compton.

Cricketers or just primary?

Quantity/longevity can't really overwhelm such a big gap in quality though.
Should O'Reilly be rated higher than guys like Bumrah? I don't think most people have him in the top 10 bowlers ever, many do have O'Reilly. Although I don't think there's a quality gap or anything.

Yeah because he wasn't injury prone and remained a beast until early 40s in First class numbers so around 10 years or so of being elite before the war finished things up. If Bumrah remains high quality until 2028, you better believe that he'll be rated above Chappell.

Yeah that's taking into account first class though, at the test level though not so much. Hence can't have him that high
