Cricketers or just primary?Chappell has been on quite a run, he beat Fred Trueman, he beat Raymond Lindwall, he beat Dennis Lillee and then he beat Kumar Sangakkara. Now, let's level up, can Chappell beat the indomitable Tiger O'Reilly.
primary.Cricketers or just primary?
I don't rate O'Reilly as high@Thala_0710 Give up on Chappell.
that's the spin equivalent of not rating SteynI don't rate O'Reilly as high
I rate O'Reilly as an ATG. Just not that high amongst ATGsthat's the spin equivalent of not rating Steyn
why not? He bowled in a flat era, against GOATed batting lineups with no pace support and averaged 22 (25 vs England).I rate O'Reilly as an ATG. Just not that high amongst ATGs
smh you tried to hide Chappell's deficiencies in the Compton comparison, huge Chappell fan.Not even a big Chappell fan or anything
Longevity/lack of sample size at the international level, although not his fault WWII happened, is the biggest reasonwhy not? He bowled in a flat era, against GOATed batting lineups with no pace support and averaged 22 (25 vs England).
I don't even rate Chappell ahead of Ponting or Rootsmh you tried to hide Chappell's deficiencies in the Compton comparison, huge Chappell fan.
Quantity/longevity can't really overwhelm such a big gap in quality though.Longevity/lack of sample size at the international level, although not his fault WWII happened, is the biggest reason
Oh...Oh Wow. I guess you also think he's the Australian Denis ComptonI don't even rate Chappell ahead of Ponting or Root
Should O'Reilly be rated higher than guys like Bumrah? I don't think most people have him in the top 10 bowlers ever, many do have O'Reilly. Although I don't think there's a quality gap or anything.Quantity/longevity can't really overwhelm such a big gap in quality though.
Yeah because he wasn't injury prone and remained a beast until early 40s in First class numbers so around 10 years or so of being elite before the war finished things up. If Bumrah remains high quality until 2028, you better believe that he'll be rated above Chappell.Should O'Reilly be rated higher than guys like Bumrah? Yeah that's taking into account first class though, at the test level though not so much. Hence can't have him that highYeah because he wasn't injury prone and remained a beast until early 40s in First class numbers so around 10 years or so of being elite before the war finished things up.
