It is very surprising that the last Pakistan fast bowler to take 200+ test wickets debuted way back in 1989.

In WIs case it's a supply issue, in Pakistans case it's a professionalism issue.
In Pakistans case, it is completely due to Imran's professional grooming of Waqar and Wasim they had the ability to have long careers.
The 2Ws didn't mentor Shoaib that way, instead they were jealous of him. No mentor for Asif, Amir or Shaheen either and they all fell by the wayside.

Certainly would have got the new ball sooner. He only got the new ball after Wasim retired. This IMO slowed his maturity as a bowler.
He wouldnt have been bowled to death also but used more pragmatically.
