English Domestic Season 2025

nice double from Hameed yesterday as well as carrying the bat. Surely should be knocking on the door as a replacement to Crawley soon??
Not a chance he'll play for England under this current setup.

As much as he may have recovered mentally. You stick him back in and I reckon the deer in the headlights place he was in comes back pretty quickly.

I know the England set-up don’t necessarily respect the differences between middle-order batting and top-order batting, but for me it’s so hard to be an opener in Test cricket, I think for the guys who have been tried and been tossed away, in my opinion they should have to make hay for a really sustained period of time to be considered

Three players considered not good enough for Lancashire topped scored for Derbyshire (Guest 77, Aitchison 45 and Morley 41) as they avoid the follow on and make it difficult for Lancs to win their first game of the season in Division Two as Leicestershire march on.

Just before 6pm
Gloucestershire beat Kent. Lancashire now the only first class county not to have won a match this year. Have 10 overs to take 2 wickets to rectify that.

The Notts v Durham game is headed for a dramatic conclusion. Durham needed 14 runs with 4 overs remaining. They lost 2 early wickets needing 91 and look like they will do it.

Why on earth has Bohannon been brought into the attack?
Think you can chose:
a) to show the hierarchy that they don't have a wicket taking spinner. [should have signed Harrison not Turner on loan]
b) in the hope amongst the mixture of long hops and full tosses he bowls the occasional wicket taking delivery
c) to preserve the coach's record of not winning a match in division two
d) to keep the vice captain happy, as he was passed over to become captain after Jennings with the coach saying - to camera - there was no Lancastrian at the club ready to be captain
e) desperation

Jack Morley's played 10 matches for both Derbyshire and Lancashire.
His batting in first class cricket:
20 runs in 9 innings for Lancashire average 3.33 facing a total of 151 balls. Never achieved double figures.
In one game for Derby against Lancs he scored his HS of 41 in 100 balls and 0* in 36 balls. Almost equal his entire efforts for Lancashire. Something badly wrong at OT. In total 115 runs for Derby in 14 innings. Almost 6 times as many runs as for Lancs. He's not played to bat, but 9, 10, 11 not expected to role over these days.

Bowling is pretty similar, more overs for Derbyshire, only one more wicket for Derby, but better average for Lancs.

Another player who has prospered away from the Old Trafford 'entitled' dressing room?

See Savin Perera is playing for Surrey seconds today. Always thought he was a good player (ex-England under 19) but there must be something going on when Surrey 2nds are his 8th FC county 2nd XI team he's trialled with:
Middlesex Second XI (2016-2018)
Nottinghamshire Second XI (2018-2023)
Derbyshire Second XI (2019-2024)
Glamorgan Second XI (2022)
Warwickshire Second XI (2023)
Kent Second XI (2024)
Lancashire Second XI (2024)

Perhaps he’s going for the full set.

Good on him for persistence however it must be clear after 9 years that it’s not to be.
