Kobe's play did improve during the playoffs. But yeah, overall he's not that close to the level of unstoppability of prime Shaq.

I sometimes find it so ludicrous that there is a guy who holds all the record in all department and there are people who say he wouldn’t have made the league right now. Kinda of like what happens with S.F Barnes. Both could still play against top class players so long after they retired.

Interestingly If I remember correctly the last team to offer Wilt NBA contract was MJ’s Bulls when he was 55.

My favourite story on Wilt is actually the one where he threw Magic out of the gym in his mid 40s. Literally saying “There will be no more shots made in this basket”. What a beast!

Kind of like all the stories that you read on Barnes. A genius is a genius, irrespective of sport.

His death has nothing to do with the GOAT debate though.

Players whose deaths may have affected the GOAT debate: Len Bias, Maurice Stokes (well more his injury that led to his death)

I reckon Kobe's GOAT case definitely benefited from people gassing him up after he died. He was highly rated by his peers before too but it's reached another level after his death for sure.

He's probably only the third best player of his own generation, let alone all time.

Fair. It hought he was already pretty overrated prior to that too tbh.

Wilt has all the records all by far. If you see it clearly MJ wasn’t really the undisputed goat or anything close that he became when Wilt was still alive. MJ barely has any record in comparison. The arguments like he played with 5.10 ft guys which is laughable and all wouldn’t have gone as far as it does now. Wilt would have literally gone straight up to these media heads like Stephen A Smith or whoever to literally have them in fear.

I mean imagine Wilt was still alive, you have The NBA 75. MJ is no longer the Alpha dog in the room just like The NBA 50.
