Big clash of all the middle distance legends in the 5000 metres final tomorrow. The Bekele brothers, Bernard Lagat, Eliud Kipchoge among others. Not to mention the small affair of the 800 metres.

Hopefully Former World champion Eliud Kipchoge or one of the new guys turning out for Kenya wins it.

Happened in the 100m final iirc. Say what you like, the guy is **** under pressure. He can thank his teammates he had a big enough lead that he could've run backwards and still won.

Unfortunately, Ed is editorialising it a little - Poelman was actually a decathlete...

1258: Kenya's Nancy Langat hunts down Bahrain's Maryam Jamal down the back straight to take the gold in the women's 1500m. Jamal fades down the stretch and allows Ukraine to take silver and bronze. But that was a poor tactical race from Lisa Dobriskey, who allowed the medallists to open up too much of a lead - she still had plenty of petrol in the tank at the finish.

Just discovered that one of the contenders, Samuel Wanjiru, is from my home town of Nyahururu.

Yeah, find it a bit hard to watch up to that point. Not as bad as the walking race though of course.

Well done to him.

Feel sorry for the bloke who came into the stadium in 3rd place but got passed in that final lap. That must suck.
