    Australia have lost the plot here. Why would you have a part timer bowling wide of off with a leg side field against India's best player? Put the field back on the leg side, bring on Cummins or Starc and bowl short. He isn't going to leave it.

    Hard to see any way he gets back up to 50. In the past 5 years, he's only averaged 30 once. If he's out another 25 times he'll need to average 69 per dismissal. He's more likely to finish averaging 45 than 50

    Who are the candidates that would be above him? The best I've seen are Rhodes, Ponting, De Villiers, Glenn Phillips, Chris Jordan, and I wouldn't put any definitively above him. Happy to leave it as 'elite fielder' to remove the controversy, it doesn't really change that his fielding is a huge...

    We've had plenty of greats, but I can't think of anyone I'd put over him. Obviously it isn't something we can quantify with metrics, but he does things that other players can't do.

    Jadeja would have a good shout. Batting average of 35, bowling average of 24, and in the top 5 fielders of all time.

    The Scorchers need a good overseas top order batsman every year, and every year they fail to get one. They're elite everywhere else, with one obvious weakness. Someone like Phil Salt or Risabh Pant would be huge for them.

    Its all going to come down to how South Africa use him. With no Steyn, Phillander or Morkel in a few years, you could see this guy having to carry the attack at 22. If thats how they go, chances are he picks up a few injuries along the way

    That was what I was getting at, as it stands we get rid of Woakes, as he's clearly not good enough. If we had given Footitt a chance, however, and he had made such an impact he was undroppable, then someone else has to go when Finn comes back. Remember Hoggard got dropped after one bad game...

    Who else do you drop? Finn has looked genuinely world class to me since he came back into the side. For me, Finn has been better than Anderson since coming back into the side
