    Scientific analysis ranks batsmen

I agree. There should have been a higher cut-off. However, I don't think Kambli is rated above Gavaskar at all, except Table 6. The leftmost columns are rankings based on averages..it's not something the authors claim.

Who was your first cricketing icon?

Same for me.. Ofcourse Agarkar probably tops both of them, quite easily, in fact..

    Who are your favourite fielders?

Amongst outfielders, Agarkar is a pretty underrated outfielder. Deceptively quick and has taken a couple of amazing catches in the outfield; a couple of direct hits from the outfield were pretty spectacular. Other than him, the usual suspects, Waugh, Ponting, Symonds, Jonty etc.

    ***Official England in India***

This might be a better pitch for him to bowl on though, with some uneven bounce. edit: and a better time also. Not facing Sehwag or Yuvraj in full flow

Build-up to Indian Domestic Season 2008-09

Wonder if the team management agrees. Ideally would have like Chopra in there, though. My man Powar has bagged a fifer v Rajasthan though AA continues to struggle.. edit: Seems like this is being discussed in the tour thread too.

Build-up to Indian Domestic Season 2008-09

This is extremely poor. I would have thought at least Cricinfo would cover it. Anyway, M. Vijay to another big score. He is going to be banging at the Test team doors pretty soon if he keeps it up.

    Tendulkar vs Amarnath

SS, I don't disagree that ideally a player shouldn't be brought in without 3-4 seasons of FC cricket but Sachin Tendulkar was a special case. Of the 5 players you have mentioned, Siva and Maninder fell away not due to any lack of skills per se but due other non-cricketing reasons. Mehra...
