How important are runs from number 8?

Yeah I'm looking at things overall, not the last 4 or 5 years of career.

How important are runs from number 8?

Hogg was a batsman when he first started for WA and batted in the middle-order. Then coach Tony Mann encouraged him to bowl wrist spin and eventually he became more of a bowler who was handy with the bat. I wouldn't say he forgot how to bat. He just shifted his focus to his bowling but still...

    Openers Tax

I still think in my opinion, when all things are considered including new ball, juice in the deck etc....if a Test opening batsman averages around 39 to 40 as a minimum then they are doing a pretty good job. Some might say averaging around 37 to 38 as am Opener in Test cricket is fine too. It's...

How important are runs from number 8?

Though only had limited options, and whilst there for his bowling, Brad Hogg was a handy number 8 for Australia in the batting order in Test matches (averaged 26.57). But he appeared more in ODI cricket for Australia at number 8 and he averaged 20.25.

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Thoughts/Opinions everyone... Is Joe Root a better batsman than Brian Lara?

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

Pant has got to that mark (90 sixes/6s) quicker than Sehwag because he doesn't have to face the new ball like Sehwag did as an Opening batsman and as an Opening batsman you need some luck to survive the new ball - its also a test of temperament and technique. Still though for Pant to get to 90...

*Official* Australia Tour of West Indies 2025

Exactly. Quote simply - farcial cricket. Farcial batting by the West Indies. Garbage. Cant take the series seriously at all.
