    It seems that the main reason for four day tests is to have the consistent scheduling. Personally, I don't understand why Thursday-Sunday tests make sense anyway. It makes more sense to start a test on the Friday. Often you already know who is going to win by the start of day 3. One point...

    Lyon went for 21 off his 3 overs which wasn't that bad. Lyon is always going to get smashed if the batsmen feel like smashing. He generally has the cricketing brains to just slightly change the ball to get the batsmen to hit it straight to a fielder.

    How would this ever work? The BBL lasts a month as it is. When would you have the BBL and how would that fit in with New Zealand's, Australia's or South Africa's home summer?

    The comments were definitely dickish but there is no need to call a press conference over them. Gayle has apologised which for me is enough. I wonder what punishment those who have condemned him the most on here would like to see?

    Hasn't Hagley had one test? The only time I see more than 7k at the Basin is on a weekend against a top quality opponent (India, Australia, England).

    It would be terrible if teams can only play within their tier. How do you think New Zealand Cricket would fund their domestic competitions and youth development if they didn't have bumper tours against India and Australia? I think the best test cricket countries shouldn't have to play the worst...

    They would need a good spinner to be ranked very high. This is a good bowling line up for this World Cup in Australia. It's not a good bowling line up for the sub continent.

    The game is still in the balance. New Zealand have every chance to win. South Africa have problems with bowling their overs. Duminy still has plenty of overs to bowl and Steyn may or may not be back.

    I agree. I just don't think McCullum should receive all the praise when New Zealand wins if he is going to be criticised for doing the exact same thing where things are not going well. I'm not saying McCullum's tactics are great but, as you say, this is just how he captains.
