    Joe Root captaincy thread

Blood clots during and apparently cancer at the end . Poor sod didn't have a lot of luck outside the game either :(

    Joe Root captaincy thread

You could say that about his entire England career . Carberry was on the margins of selection for bloody years ...getting leapfrogged by Kolpakers for a chance that was rightfully his. From memory it seemed like he was always in the Lions and development programs . Not unusual though in...

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Nah Roy aint working . I'm all for developing the bloke for Test cricket down the line but right now he's a stone round our necks in my opinion .

    3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

Exactly that . ^ Umpiring has been pretty bad throughout the series though . That high pressure atmosphere is clouding judgement . Mind you , even Hawkeye seemed like it was having an off day this Test :D .

    2nd Test, Lord's, London

I have several DVDs of that Adelaide '06 test . Not easy to get over here :D . Miracle Test bastards ! :D

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

If you play Archer , I think you can bring in Sam Curran .Without a genuine quick , I think he could be exposed by Australia . Not that we saw that many overs from these balls where Sam Curran would have been at his most deadly. He may not even be in the frame for Lords . The way I see it...

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

I'd shake hands right now :D . That draw is looking unlikely from here .

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Two bowlers down (apparently) is just taking the piss :D . Never has 34-3 seemed such a poor position overnight on day 4 . Not a bad game of cricket though . If Australia keep hold of the whiphandle ,England could have a real nightmare finish in the offing .

Any England or Australia Fans Who Don't Enjoy The Ashes?

After saying I wasn't that bothered by this years Ashes . the reality of the first Test was slightly different for me . I couldn't even sit down for the first hour of play. :D I'm still not as charged or invested as I was about the World Cup ...but that was a lifetime coming for many England...

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Plenty of rain falling at Edgbaston . Might get a bit of assistance tomorrow when the covers come off . May have a bit of cloud around in the afternoon too . Not exactly pleased with the state of the game for England . Too many runs , too quickly in my opinion , when we've been scoring so...

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Sod my luck . All my routes to watch the match switched over to the India-WI T20 . :D So I'm stuck on the radio only . It's no big thing . I've done plenty of Ashes tours on the radio over the years . Enjoying the cricket though....for the most part. Shoddy captaincy when the 'state of play'...

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Fairplay to the Aussie bowlers . There were long periods when Burns and Root especially, didn't know where their next run was coming from . I never felt Burns was 'in' all day .

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Yeah you'd want something decent from this position but there's still a likelihood of just a slim lead if we get tripped up early on tomorrow . I'm pretty pleased with where we're at though . Usually in modern Ashes tests I worry when we don't score 300 runs a day , These little pissy 240s and...

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Yeah total joke . Smith got to face a damp rag for much of yesterday . Burns has to face three new balls in 90 overs to get a similar knock .

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

We spent 30 overs bowling a wet dishcloth yesterday . Australia has already had plenty luck with the weather :) .
