5th Test (The Oval) - 31st July to 4th August

Rahul isn't considered to keep the wickets ? Is it because he's doing so well as a batter, or is there another reason ? I'm wondering because I read Jurel might not be the best pick as he's inexperienced in England. Rahul could keep the wicket and Nair or Easwaran could come in for Pant then ?

Bethell should come in for Crawley Atkinson for Woakes Duckett Stokes Bethell Root Brook Pope Smith Dawson? Atkinson Carse Archer

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

Crawley always does something to prevent England from dropping him... Bethell is there knocking at the door. Probably England's best emerging player. I thought he would replace Pope. Then though he could replace Crawley. Should he replace Bashir as England spinner ? :)

    1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

Is it really Pope who is some pressure with Bethell there, or Crawley ? :) Dropping the batter who struggles the most would make sense no? If this means room for both Pope & Bethell. It would just mean a reshuffle of the batting order, like promoting Stokes or Smith to open with Duckett.

*Official* Zimbabwe in England (One Off Test)

I'm sure sticking with Burns or Sibley instead of Crawley would have been better. It's funny still hearing England backing him (and I guess it's nice from them). He's played 97 innings and averages 30.5! Maybe England's plan is to drop him when Bethell is available ? And have Stokes to open with...

*Official* Zimbabwe in England (One Off Test)

Yeah... Bairstow is performing pretty well in FC with Yorkshire against Surrey. 89 in the first innings and 51* in the second and still batting (at an SR of 127 which should catch the eyes of Baz & Stokes)

I think the weaknesses in England's line up are Crawley & Pope. I wish Bairstow would replace Crawley, and Bethell would replace Pope.

I would love to see Jonny Bairstow back, for a couple of years. As we speak, he's 70* from 66 balls against Essex. We saw Stokes opening for England recently, hitting a very quick fifty. SO ---->>> 1. Duckett 2. Stokes 3. Pope 4. Root 5. Brook 6. Bairstow 7. Smith 8. Atkinson 10. Potts/Tongue...

    4th Match - Australia v England

I agree Woakes & Willey could have been in the squad... I don't understand why Salt is picked in the ODI squad though.. He's an exciting T20 player but his style is such that he'll rarely stick to the crease for a long period of time. In T20, a quick 30 can be worth, but not in ODIs... He's a...

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Get Robinson to open with Duckett :) Robinson, Duckett, Bethell, Root, Brook, Pope, Stokes Atkinson, Carse, ... ... Now we're talking. Also, I feel Bethell could be crafted as the #3 and spinner (on not so turning pitches). #10 could be Wood, Archer, Potts...#11 could be Sam Cook :))) or...

I'd love to see Bethell bowl more overs in this 3rd match. Craft him as the #3 & spinner :)

Odds on Robinson for Crawley ? :) Not happening unfortunately... Though I continue to feel he's the weak link in this England team

You are pretty harsh on Southee, who announces this series being his farewell series... I mean, he has played over 100 tests, and is saying goodbye isn't he ?

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

I do think Bethell is a special player. It turned out it didn't work for Buttler in Test matches, but I guess they are comparable in terms of talent. For the 2nd match, England will have a number 3 averaging 60, a number 4 average 50, and a number 5 averaging 60. Pretty solid :) Why wouldn't...
