Biggest disapointment of the 2009 Ashes?

Brett Lee not playing any part was a disappointment for me. I was looking forward to seeing him and he was looking great till he got that side strain just before Cardiff. I reckon he could've still done something in the last 2 tests though. Freddie not doing much in the last test. Would've been...

'No Doctoring' of the pitch at the Oval

Well I want to say a huge thank you and well done to the curator. He prepared a brilliant pitch. One that yielded a definite result but wasn't a total mine field. It certainly was a weird one though. Whenever a pitch is deteriorating like that it normally only goes one way and thats worse but...

'No Doctoring' of the pitch at the Oval

I take it there is no further news from the Oval curator on the type of pitch being developed then? A high scoring game would indeed be a real damp squib, especially if the Aussies win the toss. They could get 600 or so and then its bye bye ashes. If the England captain can ask for a type of...

'No Doctoring' of the pitch at the Oval

Did anyone else hear Alec Stewart on the radio the other day? He said he'd only ever once asked for a particular pitch in his tennancy as captain and England lost by over an innings to Sri Lanka with Murali taking 14 wickets. If he asked for a dry turner against a team with Murali in it then...

Why isn't Ryan Sidebottom in the team?

I'd have picked Sidebottom ahead of Anderson or Onions cos for me he is more consistent. All 3 regularly swing the ball both ways but Sidebottom doesn't have nearly as many off days as Anderson. Onions hasn't played enough for me to decide on him really.

'No Doctoring' of the pitch at the Oval

I'm just going on the announcements from the Oval: ASHES 2009: 'We won't doctor Oval pitch' - England won't receive any favours in deciding Test | Mail Online I agree that it makes an away win so satisfying. And I doubt that the ECB/the Oval would announce beforehand that they would be...

Why isn't Ryan Sidebottom in the team?

I so agree with this. I'd have put him in instead of Anderson but when Onions got picked in front of him? Onions might've done well but I'd still have Sidebottom in anyday.

'No Doctoring' of the pitch at the Oval

I'm not liking what I'm hearing about the pitch preparation at the Oval. If there's not going to be any change then it'll be a high scoring game that could well end in a draw. And if any time was lost out of the game - well, its VERY likely to be a draw isn't it? It goes without saying that...
