Well cricinfo gave him it after Ashes 2005...

Do England Miss The Pace Of Welsh Wizard Simon Jones ?

Exactly, pace is overrated. You can be a great bowler without express pace but not without accuracy.

Do England Miss The Pace Of Welsh Wizard Simon Jones ?

Agreed I think Tremlett is the outstanding 'young' (given that he's 26) England bowler. I'd love to see him stay free of injury. It was during the India series last year (I can't remember if it was on TMS or a Sky commentator) but it was mentioned that he was clocked bowling consistently mid...

Do England Miss The Pace Of Welsh Wizard Simon Jones ?

Nah not even Anderson, obviously Harmison was... Agreed but Jones is more of a late 80's rather than mid 90's. Tremlett is capable of mid 90's if you believe the radar gun and TMS.

Do England Miss The Pace Of Welsh Wizard Simon Jones ?

England miss him but pace wasn't his biggest asset, he was not in the same league as Lee, Akhtar etc. as far as pace is concerned. England have faster bowlers than Jones at their disposal. They just miss one who can actually bowl.

Who's the greatest opening batsman of alltime?

 oopss Sutcliffe I think I heard 'Spencer' while making the post :( Ah well. Edit: I have studied Herbert Spencer mind...

Who's the greatest opening batsman of alltime?

Voted for Hobbs. Herbert Spencer would come second followed by Hutton. I can't say I've ever seen them, just going on folklore I suppose. I will say though that Hayden is NOT a 'great', nor Langer. Seriously  Edit I do think Hayden is a class bat though.

Harmison - underachiever or overrated ?

I guess we won't know unless he plays a full county season. Either way I agree he should be dropped from the side.

English Batsmen - Why don't they score "big" hundreds?

lol I think clarification of what is meant by 'natural' is needed. Bell looks like he is 'a natural' at batting in the textbook way, as with Vaughan. Pietersen doubtlessly bats in the way that is most natural to him, but while being naturally talented, and no doubt 'a natural' in his own...

Harmison - underachiever or overrated ?

Didn't see this... It should be taken into account that he hasn't played much county cricket since he became an England player. He hasn't exactly had much of a chance to improve on those stats. He bowled very well early last season. Vaughan's county stats don't exactly set the world on fire...

why is ODI cricket hated by many?

Fielding restrictions for the first 10 overs, start off scoring quick runs, slow down a bit until around 30th over, look to double you score in the last 20 overs. More recently throw in a few power plays, which for me hasn't really done much to improve the middle overs. While that is a crude...

Harmison - underachiever or overrated ?

Maybe he's overrated but nearly as much as James Anderson imo. There are a couple of others I'd totally axe from the England side before him (not not necessarily centrally contracted players but those on the fringe). I think the mentally soft tag does apply. If it didn't he would endlessly bowl...

    ***Official*** English Domestic Season 2008

Well seeing that Hamish Marshall can't be registered as a qualified player now he'll have to be our overseas player. We really could have used a fast bowler. I think the only thing of note Glos will manage is perhaps relegation from Pro40 Div 1. Might do well in the 20-20. Will perform...
