Despair away mate. Cook & Strauss have been opening consistently since Trescothick left, I would hazard a guess that that puts them in the "settled" catagory. And Panesar, by results is one of the better spinners going around. That would make the guy "good". Notice I didn't use the moniker...

So by your own mouth the cream of our cricketers got smashed in one day & test cricket by one great player and "quite a few ordinary ones" Does that make all our players less than ordinary?

No but I was surprised I thought cricketers at that level would have some sort of nous about them. Maybe that is why he is still mired in mediocrity. Never had enough brains.

Your theory falls apart given that I started like this when Tugga lost the plot with his "mental disintegration".. whether you believe this or not is irrelevant. And I contend that the tall poppy syndrome is what stops us from turning into yanks. So I see it as a positive part of our convict...

I had a beer with the bloke at a Live Aid concert. He's as thick as the proverbial brick.

BTW I know Neil Harvey my grandmother worked for him when he was a manager of a Tupperware factory. And I spoke to Harold Larwood on the phone when i was a young bloke. He was a real gentleman and told me that bodyline was invented out of fear of Bradmans talent.. he never set out to hurt anybody.

72? Do you even know what you are talking about? And the comment about WW2 well mate you really have lost the plot. Mark Taylor was a great captain and didn't tolerate the terrible stuff that Ponting engendered. May as well say Aus cricket has been bad since Warwick Armstrong asked a...

I am a true blue 100% Aussie. I'm not out to piss any Australians off just to show a different side to the national character than the one-eyes jingoists that haunt these types of forums. I love my cricket and Australia hasn't been good for it over the last 13 years. So I'm cheering for the...

They aren't my team mate. I've been going for England since 2004. My wife says that when Ponting retires I will probably go for Australia again. Until then I will cheer every defeat as proudly as I can.
