Which cricketers go on each countries Mount Rushmore?

He's not looking for quality players though.

Omar Henry would have a better claim than any of these guys (except Basil) if you want to go down this path.

How good could the the great all-rounders have been if they focused on one discipline?

Sounds right. One thing that might have impacted the quality of their primary is workload. Just getting tired. I'm not sure how much impact workload actually had on primary though.

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Doesn't really matter who the number 8 is if it isn't Imran. I'd have to in without Miller. Which team Imran is in has some odd knock on effects. Miller and Kallis can both end up anywhere from 1st to 3rd for me. Possibly even lower than 3rd. I haven't thought it through.

McGrath, Barnes, Murali, Ambrose as a tail, on top of playing Miller? That's AT trash tier.

Imran not making the 1st is the one thing potentially keeping Kallis out of the second. With Miller and Imran you can go in with 5 bowlers. The batting is too weak without him.

The long career is more of a concern. I'm not completely backing any of the part time keepers for long careers with heavy batting and keeping loads.

I wouldn't stick Kallis and Miller in this team together. I was just voting for the one that came up first in the voting order. I'm not sure what to make of of Hammond's batting, but if forced to pick, I'd have him in this team as a specialist. I wanted 4 ARs in the first team though.

Because I'm not sure that it's the right pick anymore, now that other places are locked in. Hammond and Kallis sharing the 5th sounds very good to me, and the tail below Imran is very weak.

Barnes just doesn't have the test record for me. There is a reason I'm not voting Grace (or in an arguably more comparable way, Pollock/Headley). Imran and Miller was my only vote in R1. Was busy for R2, and I don't really care about which of Kallis or Miller gets in on this round. Imran is in...

    All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Agree that he's an iffy pick. Bowling style and era aside, he doesn't really have a test career against quality opponents. And if we are looking at what he did outside of tests, Grace should already be in (and arguably some others). I thought I'd seen a photo of the cordon standing back to...
