    *Official* England in Australia (2 T20 & 7 ODIs)

Compare Lee who is storming in like a 25 year old to Johnson and Watson who are both shuffling in like 80 year olds. Brett lee still looks as strong as in his prime and is by far the fastest aussie bowler. I dont count Taite who chucks for a few overs and then gasses out.

Is Australia back to the dark days of the mid 80s?

This ashes series defeat was our worst since the 88/89 series against the windies in oz, when they beat us 3-1 but no innings defeats. This time we were basically destroyed, 3 innings defeats is the kind of stuff we used to do the the crap teams in our prime. Our alleged best bowler johnson...

Shane Bond - Retirement and Tributes

His career is quite tragic. If he had stayed fit he would have been one of the greats imo. Must have been so hard for Nz'ers through his career because great bowlers only come along once every 10-20 years.

What should we do with Mitchell Johnson?

I always thought Johnson was a hack. Sure he had some success but in the long run his type always get exposed.

Matthew Hayden Retires - Tribute Thread ***Breaking News***

Its funny how its being made out as his decision to retire when in reality he was dropped and just had it whispered in his ear before it was official, so he could have some dignity. Good player but would never have survived against the 80s and 90s bowling attacks.

Tate looks like a full on chucker to me.

    ***Official*** South Africa In Australia

So strange to see Australia only scoring 260 odd in a day. It used to be 350 most of the time. They have been slow all summer. Reminds me of the old days, early 90s batting rates.

    ***Official*** South Africa In Australia

Nothing wrong with our batting. Its always been up and down but ultimately was almost ALWAYS saved by our great bowlers of the past who always got us out of seemingly impossible situations. Thats all gone now and we are relying on a bunch of hacks. Johnson had a great game but hes a hack as well.

Harmison - underachiever or overrated ?

I saw a summary of his yearly record and noticed only in one year did he average under 30 , in 2004 against the windies when he cleaned them up. From memory hes plus 30 for the rest of his career.

Greatest batting/bowling styles in the world.

I thought Donalds action was a thing of beauty. The way he steamed in and his tall elegant delivery was awesome.

    ***Official*** Commonwealth Bank Tri-Series 2007-08

I thought he had a reputation of a big hitter but so far hes just just been a prodder and grafter. Bit disappotined. Maybe he just cant hit top quality bowlling.
