Gambhir absolutely deserves this mauling for constantly picking fewer bowlers, despite even going for close to 700 in the last test. Area of concern was the bowling, yet he shored up the batting. Incredibly dumb and weak man.

Are you watching though? They're bowling pretty well, England are just batting hyper-aggressively and so far getting away with it. I'd say their bowlers are keeping their heads much better than their fans in this thread.
England haven't been uber lucky or anything either despite India not bowling terribly so far. Duckett premeditating a reverse pull next ball after Deep got one to bounce extra and hit the handle was straight up genius.

Think the Indian batsmen got a bit too bogged down by the conditions yesterday. They had an opportunity to score more freely v some abject England bowling and there's enough pace in the wicket to support shotmkaking.

Siraj himself is erratic and very bog-standard but he must feel deflated having bowled on some absolute slabs all summer watching refreshed bowlers who have been brought back in for a decent bowling wicket just to serve up absolute rubbish.

Feel like they'd already won the mental battle there, went for a scoop too many. Equally, we partly got in this position through risk-taking. Difficult balance and hard to complain exactly.

Does seem like a pitch you could collapse on though.

This is the one area England can really improve - when you’ve done the hard work of the fast start going at 8 an over - you have the game literally in your hands if you go on and bat the afternoon session at a more traditional pace.

Duckett and Crawley just don’t seem to be able to wind it back in or come back down a gear when they’re on a flier - I just think a champion team and cricketer have that ability to understand when to hammer home the advantage you’ve built and start milking the ones and twos to really infuriate the opposition.
