Overton's a real weird one. Been a baffling selection in LO cricket too, for some reason he's been picked multiple times in ODis and T20s to bat 7. He's awful, not exactly sure what it is they see in him

Agree. Was wrong about this morning though, looked like we were gonna get a heavy downpour between 10 and 11 that never came. Should be good to resume just after lunch though, be back on by 2 I reckon.

Robinson always got injured (and lo and behold is injured again, which is a shame because he’s a magnificent bowler), Potts hasn’t been at his best but is better than Overton

potts has been in really poor form for durham. i don't think he has any particularly outstanding attributes that will translate to long term test success outside of stamina. but he would still be an infinitely better pick than joverton.
robinson ain't ever coming back under this regime. shame as he was the one with the talent to take on the anderson and broad mantle.

He was picked to bat 7-8 a few times when he wasn't even fit to bowl. Real weird fascination with his batting in particular.

He was used a batsman only last year in white ball by Surrey. As he couldn't bowl due to a back injury I think.
He only started bowling again in the winter in the BBL.
As he then played the finisher role really well in white ball that's what got him called up for England white ball tour to the Windies.
Partly why he didn't bowl as not needed with better bowlers and picked more for bat than ball.
Not sure just being around the England setup is suitable justifcation to play test cricket like.
