Hadlee overall due to bring more consistent but Steyn was simply significantly better bowler on slow flat pitch.

I think Hadlee's overall career and numbers are marginally more impressive, but I love Steyn as a bowler more than any other. Even though he didn't bowl with as many "tricks" as guys like Wasim or Bumrah or Marshall, he would find ways to keep his bowling threatening in every spell. High 130s deadly outswingers with the new ball , could bowl reverse-swing spells every bit as deadly as Wasim/Waqar/Imran when the old ball started doing something and if the ball wasn't doing anything at all, had the ability to crank it up to 90+mph and still remain threatening. Haven't enjoyed watching any other bowler as much.

I actually think Steyn has roughly as good a record as Hadlee. I just think Hadlees MO was a bit more preferable.

Used to take Steyn in this comparison, but have shifted from SR emphasis to output emphasis, so now I have Hadlee ahead. Slim either way though.

Hadlee had less support, and had to bowl long spells more often in less favorable circumstances than Steyn (same reason I have him slightly ahead of Marshall as well).

Marshall won a lot more games than Hadlee though. Surely Marshall should be rated higher since he was able to elevate his team in a way that Hadlee was unable to do.

I think Steyn is better on flat pitches but Hadlee is more consistent all conditions taken into account.
