Regarding ankitj's composition- Im leaning towards that too given the team we have selected so far.

Move Sobers to 5. Gilly/Imran 6/7. Hadlee 8. That's more than enough batting. We need a subcontinental champion bowler to balance the bowling attack in my opinion, because right now we have Hadlee = McGrath plus Marshall. There's not enough variety (or diversity). Who out of the three has a proven record bowling reverse swing? So IMO we need someone like Imran.

Those voting care about stats not team or bowling composition it seems.

It wasn't good that this world xi thing started all of sudden. A lot of people didn't know. Next time when we do this - I suggest running a thread with a title like

"All Time World XI - voting starts on 23rd July (3 days)"

This way more people can find out about it and thus we can get greater participation and a more democratic result.

Think a Hadlee-Marshall-Warne-Murali attack would be tempting but Murali sadly has to go against McGrath for that and McGrath beats the dogshit out of him.

Honestly for an ATG XI to have only one outright fast bowler along with two line length merchants is pretty sad and boring.

Maybe effective but not really scary.

I always get the sense that against really superior Martian lineups, you need a raw pace edge and the fast medium types reach a ceiling.

I actually announced it on, Sunday I think (was supposed to be on Wednesday, instead did Thursday). Just didn't thought of making a wholeass thread declaring so.

Smith isn't entertaining unless you actually like his constipated batting style. Tendulkar is actually good to watch.
