Jofra Archer added to England's test squad
He's even more injury prone than Bumrah. Where's Gus or Potts.Jofra is a bit x factor, however, it's nuts to assume he'll play a test match after 18 overs for Sussex. I hope his squad selection is one of getting him back in the atmosphere of the England team rather than sending down 40 overs of express pace over 5 days.
Bond is a nobody in the history of test cricket. Bumrah has already achieved severalfold more. He's even more injury prone than Bumrah. Where's Gus or Potts.
Agree but overall careers just reminds me of Bond. Always injured but plays only for short bursts.Bond is a nobody in the history of test cricket. Bumrah has already achieved severalfold more.
I mean he was sitting on the groundsmans chair between overs. So your expecting miracles from him lasting a test match.JofraDefinitely needed. Hope he plays - probably in place of Tongue or Bashir, but the attack definitely needs that something extra.
i've been waiting for Carse x Atkinson duo. genuinely a great bowling duo and opening bowling partnershipHe's even more injury prone than Bumrah. Where's Gus or Potts.
Washi's only played England in India on different surfaces, batting well down the order and against poorer English attacks (the pacers weren't always great or plentiful, and the spinners were quite inconsistent). I get how it can work, but it's a massive gamble to take since he's not as proven of a batter as the other players in contention for no. 3/6 and we really don't have a great idea of how he'll handle Bazball compared to Kuldeep for example. You could very easily get a Shardul situation again, though for him it wouldn't be as crippling given his age. The issue ultimately with this is that India need a pace bowling AR/pacer who can bat a bit (like Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Hardik Pandya) to get the best balance with the options.I would play Washington Sundar at No.3 ..
●He averages 90 in the 3 tests he has played v England ,
●He's been batting there in domestic cricket ,so not as big a gamble as it seems
● Had some early success in international cricket, so wont be nervous in playing a big series like a rookie batsman will be
● I think India need as many bowling options as possible especially if Bumrah is gonna be rested, and Sundar although he didn't take many wickets vs England he did manage to be economical which is just as important v Bazball to build pressure .
●If you play Sundar at No.3 you open up so many options, NKR can play as a No.7 in place of Jadeja or you can give Jurel the gloves and let Pant play as pure batsmen , just many more options available
What does this make Mohammed Shami?Bumrah is Indias version of Shane bond. He's brilliant but made of glass.
Cummins has been in 67 of the 79 Tests Australia has played since his comeback. I can't recollect him hobbling off the ground in any of them either. The series of the crocked quickies. Makes you marvel at how resilient someone like Cummins has been ever since reentering Test cricket. Guy plays every game in sight.
hes too old now. 34-35. also he was never truly great in tests, circa 28 bowl average. What does this make Mohammed Shami?
Batting in the top order is tough anyway, but especially in England when the Duke’s ball will do things early (perhaps not quite as prominent now, but still tougher than walking out to bat in the middle order)Washi's only played England in India on different surfaces, batting well down the order and against poorer English attacks (the pacers weren't always great or plentiful, and the spinners were quite inconsistent). That's not to say it's a bad choice though. I'd certainly think a bit differently of Gill if this happens (Gambhir though can **** off).
What, England's leading wicket taker in the India seriesTongue must be the one to make way surely then?
