One stat though which made me think a bit, don't know how much conclusions we could draw from it but:
Kohli avgs higher than Gavaskar in both result matches (won/lost games) and also in drawn/tied matches. So in both categories of matches, Kohli avgs higher.
But Gavaskar avgs higher than Kohli (quite significantly so), because he played a much higher proportion of drawn tests as compared to Kohli.

@capt_Luffy @sayon basak your thoughts?

Kolkata would spill the beer back in Edgbaston's face
Kolkata wasn't even that close in the end. As far as follow on wins go, NZ beating England Wellington 2023 would be another contender (even though it was really only set up by the plan for an extra day on the golf course).

Cricinfo are also doing a bracket/knockout exercise in the lead up to the WTC Final to determine the greatest Test match of the 21st century.

Which seems a long and convoluted process to end up with Kolkata 2001.
Sl Vs NZ 2023 sylhet test is also a solid contender.

Looking at his wins and other Indian batsmen, seems like the wins he played in were relatively low scoring. The bowlers (particularly Bedi, Chandra and Kapil) were the real MVPs

It certainly a very interesting stat, but don't think any conclusions could be drawn from this.

In T20 World Cup -

Batsman with t20 WC campaign with 150 + sr -
1- Sky 2022 (190sr)
2- Jayawardene 2010 (160 sr)
3- McCullum 2012 (159 sr)
4- Jos Buttler 2024 and 2021 ( both were very tough for batting) (158 Sr and 151 SR)

5- Travis Head 2024 (158 Sr)

And so on ....
But Media proclaimed undisputed best T20 World Cup batsman Kohli -0 campaign.

Batsman with T20 WC campaign with 140+ SR -
Media goat Kohli once in 2016 t20 WC -147 Sr
Unknown T20is batsman Joe Root once in the same tournament - 146 sr .

So the question is,
Why kohli is highly overrated for his t20 average, Even though he played like tuk tuk Rizwan in majority of matches?
And Media + Kohli fan's always gives excuses about his low Sr by saying he was playing in Don bradman's era when no one used to play agressively (well many players from that time are present in these list like McCullum, Watson , Gayle, Jayawardene etc).

So It is Jos Buttler who is actually the undisputed greatest T20 World Cup batsman, not pr hyped Kohli who only able to manage a 140+ sr campaign even after playing More than 7 T20 WC.

What's your opinion on this?
Why the same kohli fan's trolls babar and Rizwan like criminals but worship kohli for the same duty 🙄?

If you actually watch the 2014, 16 T20 Wcs this, wouldn't need to be posted.
Kohli is the best T20 WC player, you don't need to bat at 150+ SR if the target doesn't need to.
Kohli was the timing his chases perfectly and upping his SR in the first inns whenever required.

But Jos Buttler is equally consistent with 20+ sr in all the seasons.
I don't see how can anyone take kohli over Jos.

Don't you think Jos Buttler has suppressed him especially when you see the last 3 T20 WC which were extremely tough for batting (uae 2021 pitches+ Aus 2022 pitches+ 2024 pitches)
Where coincidentally Kohli failed in 2 wc and in 2022 , he accumulated at 136 Sr,
But Buttler was equally consistent with 150+ sr twice and 144 sr in 2022 WC.

These are Indian batting performances in the 2014-16 WCs. Rohit looks close in the 2014 version but those runs were made early against Bangladesh and other weak opposition.
Buttler hasn't done this. No one else has.
