English Domestic Season 2025

There are a lot of Oz 2nd raters doing well in the CC atm, whereas Englands best have usually struggled to bat and bowl effectively in Oz [2010-11 excepted]

Wait, now Harry Conway's playing for Northamptonshire?
Yeah I noticed that. Appartently the deal was signed at the start of March (so likely before he would have known he was being cut from the South Australian list) but I ovboiusly missed that at the time

Don't believe he's one of those with a UK passport like Guthrie was, so it definitely seems a little odd that for him to have an overseas county deal while not having a state contract for next season

On the other hand, Guthrie isn't playing. Conway's a better bowler, but still looks bit funny.

Guthrie is probably being rested having played all three Northants matches so far, not that he has been particularly impressive. Conway looked good yesterday but was obviously knackered by the end of the day.

A great day's play for Essex against Somerset. But if the pitch is flattening out, they're gonna need at least another 100 runs. Losing Critchley at the end of the day wasn't great.

You're looking pretty comfortable now: 312 ahead with 6 wickets left.

Interesting finish between Yorkshire and Warwickshire. The Bears should be OK, but a couple of wickets would change everything.

EDIT
Alternatively, Essex could lose their last 5 wickets for 7 runs and set a target of 321. Sorry @HeathDavisSpeed
I still think that will be too many for Somerset, but not as stiff a target as it should have been.

Leach with six wickets in the match against a very decent batting line up. Not as good as Bashir though.

All this talk whether Lancashire are capable of taking 20 wickets in a match at Old Trafford. Suffice to say took them 85 overs to take 3 this match and only 4 by 110 overs. After donating Gloucestershire an extra bowling bonus point by sending in a night watchman and then Wells trying and failing to hit 14 runs in the 110th.

The idea that Banton's triple was going to be the start of something seems quite ludicrous now. Good job the England squad was already selected as Josh Hull probably would have been selected now.

Did you see the catch that he was alledgedly 'under' and didn't lay a hand on it, with Northants 9 down.
Is that a clip Stokes and McCullum should watch?

Leicestershire virtually promoted. Have 99 points from 5 matches. Probably only need 220. 121 from 9 matches should be achievable.

Collapse seems to have been sparked by Cox’s injury - which doesn’t sound good on first glance. Not having great luck with injuries is Cox and if he’s out for a while, those runs will be hard to replace for Essex.

Rew performing while Cox gets injured could be very poignant, it will be interesting to see if Robinson’s first decent knock of the season is enough to get him ‘back’ into the England squad

217 points was enough to get promoted from division 2 last year, so Leic well on the way. (Sussex 237, York 217)

Not sure how many signings they would need to stay up if they do make it though.

Some knock by James Rew.

10 FC hundreds before the age of 22 is impressive.

The youngest since Compton in the 1930s
