Yeah, but Crowe batted higher and has multiple ATG efforts like against Windies at home, against two Ws, Australia away and so forth. De Villiers was an excellent Batsmen but it's not like he did anything that's beyond's Crowe's achievements against pace bowling, He's better/more proven against spin so he's better but the gap isn't large as I don't see any indication Crowe would struggle with spin.

ABD had an ATG series vs peak Johnson at home. Don't think he was one bit worse than Crowe against pace, and undoubtedly better to spin.

ATG series vs Peak Johnson or ATG series vs Peak Marshall and Garner?
That Johnson series is top 10 All Time imo, 15 at worst. I think how a bowler bowled on a particular day/series is more important than their overall standings, very significantly.

Ohhhh, Nah I'd disagree.

also, I'd argue Garner was even more lethal In English/Kiwi conditions than Johnson in Australia or South Africa.
I think ABD being practically faultless in technique to both pace and spin, and maintaining a Great away record literally everywhere he played, makes him a top 30 in my book.

I think Crowe was quite faultless, brilliant against pace, proven against bounce/movement, fantastic against reverse per Wasim's own admission, also carried a rather weak lineup and was genuinely the world's best Batsmen for a while, for all that factor I have him even with De Villiers, De Villiers slightly ahead only because he got the opportunities to prove himself against spin and mostly did it.

I did, drafts aren't about how you rate players, it's about how others do.
........ I actually somewhat agree. While I still go by my own ratings (hence never took Ponting), I do avoid pre WWI players like Grace, Ranji, Spofforth, Rhodes etc like plague; as I seen to be the only one to rate them. Also try to not take Trumper, Hill, even Barnes etc too quickly.

Crowe was definitely good v spin. Limited opportunities. Similar case to Chappell purely in that regard.

Crowe struggled in India and SL.

Yeah, I was thinking not to take Ranji in the current draft, but he was just too too good amongst the options left for me not to take him
