Pretty close imo even though the stats don’t suggest it. Anderson averaged under 25 post 2010 iirc while Root will probably end up averaging around 49.

I think Root will be averaging 50 till he retires but I still have my doubts whether he is going to score a ton in Australia?

Just saw an article that ECB is trying to arrange 5 match test series with nations like Pakistan to help test cricket grow in nations other than the top 3 (to help Root break Sachin's record tbh but whatever).
Would be interesting to see by just how much he stretches that record.

Eh, the regime asked Anderson to retire when he was 4 wickets away from the highest Australian wicket taker of all time, I doubt it cares about things like records.

More Cricket = More engagement by struggling countries like Pakistan and West Indies = Good

Was a longway from Murali though. Had Warne been the top, I frankly can't see Jimmy retiring right there.

I don’t think they’re scheduling more tests. It says in the article that they’re just turning two 3 test series into one 4-5 test series and one 1-2 test series.
