thoughts on some of the South Aussies cracking into the international teams? especially Head/Mennie/Worrall?

Worrall - Never hopefully, Victorian players only disappoint post-Warne.
Head - Will eventually, matter of when.
Mennie - Probably end up a one test wonder when Bird/Patto get injured again.

Mennie is from true SACA heartland though: regional NSW.
Makes me wonder, how would a "NSW bred but play for someone else" side go in the Shield? It would've been stronger a couple of years ago when they still had Cowan and Hughes, but it would still look pretty damn solid IMO.

Well apparently he did good things culture-wise up at Leics, but you can't argue with the results Saker has produced over the last couple of years.

At the very least Ronnie won't be whinging about anti-Vic conspiracies.
He has got Cosgrove as captain of Leics tho' that has probably helped.

:)

Just noticed the Aus/SA A games and will opine that South Africa having 7 players that played in their most recent test series in their A team is horse ****. I get that Viljoen played due to injury and van Syl is dropped, okay, but this A side also contains their first choice spinner and opening pair. And Temba Bavuma who hit his maiden century 2 tests ago. This side might actually contain more first-choice players than their side that played the 3rd test.

Why does it matter?

All those guys are Test specialists so they used the A series to give them some time out in the middle. Given no-one really cares who wins these games as they exist purely for player development, I'm sure CA would have actually been very happy to have Australia A play against some Test players, and CSA obviously thought they could use the run. It's a win-win.

I'm never more surprised at a cricket related opinion than when someone feels slighted by a stacked A team; it misses the entire point of these games to think doing such is cheating in some way. If they called the team South Africa Development XI or something instead would you be less annoyed?

What have the pitches been like ?
Is Aus preparing the next gen of flat track bullies with their A side to maintain their home ground advantage ?

Well yeah but that's the point, they're trying to give experience in Australia to players likely to be touring here for the Tests. It's not like everyone always takes the "A" side thing completely literally. Virat Kohli played for India A last year.

and this SA side is getting thrashed by an Australia 4th XI so I doubt too many people are going to complain that they are too strong

I get personally annoyed when a A series doesn't introduce me to new players, basically. It's not cheating it's just horse ****.
