Rafa isn’t playing at Wimbledon this year. With Fed nearly 40 and not a contender and Murray a zero chance Wild Card things are changing at last, albeit slowly.

more like who is going to stop him at any of these events?

One event at a time!

He lost to Simple Sam a few years ago so like Rafa he will want to avoid someone going into servebot God mode, a Kyrigos, Cilic etc early would be a disaster.

Maybe someone like Berrettini ?

Zverev also has a great game for grass.

Bookies have Medvedev and Stefano as 2nd and 3rd fav , don't see it at all with those 2.

sure i am not saying it's a 100% certainty but the chances of it happening are significantly higher than not (as long as he stays healthy since his motivation especially at the majors cannot be questioned)...

who is the best clay courter now? it has to be a tie between novak and rafa especially after rolland garros
who is the best on fast outdoor hardcourts? novak a mile ahead of everyone else especially with federer's (sadly inevitable) injuries and decline
who is the best on grass? novak a mile ahead of everyone else especially with federer's (sadly inevitable) injuries and decline
who is the best on slower hardcourts? novak again, maybe not a mile ahead but clearly better than anyone else
who is the best on indoor courts? novak by a country mile especially with federer's (sadly inevitable) injuries and decline

you say this is not the novak of 10 years ago but when was the last time one player was this dominant in his sport in every conceivable scenario?

Berrettini looks an absolute stud on this surface, maybe concern over his returning, but he's got a much bigger game than many other big servers.

He should do very well at Wimbledon.

Norrie is one who could sneak the last 16, or even last 8 with a good draw. The Brit born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand at 3, came to the UK for the funding at 16 and then went off to the US to go to university. British born parents though so not as bad as some.

I've not seen much of him on grass but he's had some nice results this week.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't progress further than Evans for sure.

Tomorrow v Matteo will be a nice test for sure.

You could argue Medvedev and Rublev are not far off Novak's level on HC, especially given Novak's reliance on magic beans to stay fit

I know he'd probably be betting outsider if he were to play Richard Gasquet tomorrow as he is so bad atm but not impossible that Thiem figures it out before the US Open where lets not forget he is defending champ.

Its a pretty competitive rivalry he was with Novak also.

Some nice leftfield finals in the ladies this week Kasaktina v Jabeur and Benic v Samsonova,,,,we are getting randoms in the ladies Wimbedon final again

sure and they can probably beat him when they are fully on and he is slightly off in a best of three match (especially in the last couple of years) but majors are a totally different beast when it comes to djokovic in the last decade or so...he has that extra level (nadal and federer also had it until a couple of years back and nadal still has it at the french), call it arrogance, supreme confidence, staggering self-belief whatever...but that champion quality enables him to eke out wins from seemingly lost positions again and again...and again. none of these "next gen" "young guns" have shown they are capable of that...yet. as i asked niall a few pages back, do you think thiem wins the 2020 u.s open if djokovic didn't have a brain-fade? i am not a djokovic or a nadal fan as most here know and would love to be proved wrong at wimbledon but sadly it's most likely going to be a 6th all england title and 20th major for novak...:)

Halep and Thiem out of Wimbledon. The seedings and the draw all looks like a real motley crew. Djokovic obviously the strongest favourite ever barring injury on the mens side. Probably about 50 potential winners on the ladies side.

Another random winner likely on the women’s side…men’s side a foregone conclusion…haven’t been this unenthusiastic about Wimbledon for some time…:(
