Greg Chappell Vs Rahul Dravid - who was the better test match batsman?

h_hurricane

International Vice-Captain
Perhaps Barrington is underrated then? His natural game was fast scoring iirc but he was dropped early in his test career, and changed his style to become one of the greatest stonewallers.
Not perhaps. He is certainly under-rated. Fail to understand why some one with that kind of record in tests is not even rated as lower tier ATG. Many old timers lavish praise on Graveney, May ,Dexter and Compton and do not have a word to tell about Barrington. He is probably the most difficult to dismiss post war english batsman, even ahead of Boycott or his lady granny.
