Wow, usually it's a good thing when a shot comes straight out of the middle, but then, usually it's not the off-stump coming out the middle.

Good to see a re-appearance of O'Donnell for Auckland today.

No idea of his club form since his poor Plunket Shield start to the season, but I swear it is so easy for young promising cricketers in Auckland to drop down forever.

Speaking of which, what's happened to Chapman?

I think he might be injured. In that T20 vs CD he was hitting balls into the crowd during the innings break and had his ankle all wrapped up.

Othe stuff of interest. Brett Randell getting a senior debut for ND.

Canterbury almost pure engine room, no McClure, who also had poor start to Plunket season. But had reasonable A tournament, which is all 50 over stuff. So find that strange, Canterbury do seem to attract my eye most with meh selection.

Note that away as Stead is a comer in the coaching ranks.

Canterbury deserve to be rolled with that line up. 3-4 pure batsmen shows no faith in local batsmen/talent.

If I count McConchie as an almost specialist bat (not sure of his long term role yet), then they have 4 batsmen in the lineup- and of these 4 McConchie and Bowes both bowl.

Crazy 11.

Who are now all out for 135.

Phillips keeps ahead of Horne.
Wasn't there an article linked here about him having back or knee problems and keeping did t sound a long term option for Phillips?

Would have to call out Matt Henry's dismissal down long offs throat, last man out, with 19 overs remaining - as hopelessly unprofessional.

But. Intent.

As opposed to the engineering student tailender from CD with 11 off 30 odd balls after stags creaked to 9 wickets down - steering CD to around 200.

was down at Eden Park today got saw the first 20 odd overs of Otago's chase.
Good little Grammar battle was ensuing with Lachie dropping short to Jimmy and Jimmy taking him on. Also, note, Jimmy came in first ball off rob Nicole straight over the top mistimed for four. He eventually was out clean bowled sweeping Nethula to the longest boundary at on the Outer Oval. Just never seemed settled. Anaru continues to pick up bags, crazy stuff and to think he a guy who with bat in hand is QUALITY.

On my comment about Canterbury playing 11 above.

Tbf. Both ND and CD also had unbalanced looking 11s yesterday as well. Lacking batting.

CD had Kain at 7 then 4 seamers.
ND had Kuggelein at 6 (along with Seiffert at 3), that 2 guys in top 6 averaging sub-20 (although expect this improve .....)

And congrats, I suppose, to Tim Sieffert on his new career high score of 38.

Moved it in from a previously very impressive 27.

Looks like another good white ball innings from Clarkson yesterday, match winning.

Be interested to know why he went off the boil so much last year at u19 level. Simply struggle with overseas conditions and spin? this combined with a loss of form? Or his injury he got at same time IIRC that stopped him bowling effected his batting? Either way he flopped, but looks promising.

Sochi with another good showing there I see. Bit weird that he's not in the squad for the CH after the pivotal role he played in the series decider last year.
