South Africa - Festival of Cricket

From 3-5 January Newlands will host the Festival of Cricket in Cape Town consisting out of 3 days of T20 cricket.

The festival will feature an exhibition match between the Proteas and the Springboks, a
North versus South game and the official start of the RAM Slam T20 tournament.

The North vs South will be a game played between players born North in the country vs players in the South.

but looking forward to the proteas play the springboks!

The bok team is

J de Villiers (c), W Alberts, B du Plessis, B James, F Juries, T
Liebenberg, W le Roux, V Matfield, F Steyn, Flip van der Merwe and Franco van
der Merwe.


The proteas squad is

Faf duPlessis (captain), Hashim Amla, Henry Davids, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers,
JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell,
Aaron Phangiso, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, David Wiese.

Amped to see how the boks go against the proteas t20 world cup squad. I remember seeing Matfield hit a massive six playing vs the titans a few years ago.

Squads have been announced for the state of origin (North vs South game), Unfortunately (yet Fortunately) players like Philander, Morkel and Steyn are being rested and AB de Villiers apparently needs surgery on his left hand (?!).

NORTH SQUAD: Albie Morkel, Chris Morris, Dane Vilas, David Wiese, Faf du Plessis, Graeme Smith, Mangaliso Mosehle, Morne van Wyk, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Ryan McLaren, Simon Harmer, Vaughn van Jaarsveld

SOUTH SQUAD: Beuran Hendricks, Colin Ingram, Daryn Smit, David Miller, Farhaan Behardien, Hashim Amla, Henry Davids, Jacques Kallis, JP Duminy, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Prenelan Subrayen, Robin Peterson, Thami Tsolekile

Not the final teams, but I hope we get to see players like Harmer, Beuran Hendricks and Morne van Wyk in action. Should be a tight affair.

Game takes place tomorrow and will be televised world wide. (Well I think so, the domestic matches on sunday will definately be broadcast in Asia)

I think the cricketers should get a good backline together, so a Sevens game could be more interesting. If they played the soccer team, i reckon the proteas would smash Bafana.

the springboks won the toss and choose to bowl.

Best result. rather this than the proteas chasing 20 to win.

a packed stadium at newlands. Different laws such as the bowling cam only be done with 10m run ups and the springboks have 12 batsman.
