The Australian top order doom and gloom thread

It's a shame Pomersbach has the reputation that he does. He would almost be able to be considered for test selection considering what else we have at the moment.

Goes out to the shed.

Luke Pomersbach! The man hasn't made a single first class run in 664 days.:laugh:

^^

I assume had he not allegendly beaten up some guy in India he would have played the last domestic season and potentially racked up a few.

Pomersbach does fit into that lost generation that we talk about sometimes, but its a big IF that he would have done well last year and been close to Aus selection. I hope for QLD's sake he gets a first class game soon though and performs well.

The pitches were a lot better for batting in Shield cricket the last time Pomersbach was in the runs too, so his average isn't as impressive as it looks in comparison to other candidates really.

Has Hughes actually batted at 3 before? Some openers don't adjust to having to wait to bat.

We're horrible. Terrible. Awe-inspiringly pathetic.

A nation of front foot planters and across the line heavers. A country in which Steven Smith is a legitimate top 6 option. A shadow of our former selves.

And yet we still can't beat New Zealand in the doom and gloom stakes (or in Hobart).

NZ at least has the bright spark of Kane 'Inconsistently Underperforming Gun' Williamson in their top order. And Ross Taylor isn't bad at all. Plus that Jesse Ryder bloke can apparently bat a bit and at least Martin Guptill tries.

We have a T20 specialist with footwork that makes Virender Sehwag look like a ballroom dancer, an all rounder with a glass body and a serious case of vertigo, and a faded, retired giant. At least Ed Cowan tries.

Not to mention we're looking at bringing back a bloke who has nightmares about Martin Guptill when he nicks himself shaving #clearlyoriginal or picking Steven Smith as a legitimate top 6 option.

Everything is ****ed. We now must wait for our lord and saviour Joe Burns to get selected and pull us out of this technically flawed, predictable, talented-but-useless hole that we've found ourselves in.

I rest my case.
i enjoyed this time capsule

steve smith really is proof fans and media are terrible at predicting the future

logically this means will williams is the next philander, but taller, so he's better or something.
