    When was the last time...

...two left arm pace bowlers played for Australia together? (All rounders not included)

When you say "allrounders not included", I take it you're implying Mitchell Johnson is an allrounder? Take him out of consideration and its a good trivia question.

Don't know if it was the last time, but I remembered Chris Matthews and Bruce Reid playing in this match.

Bar the current Johnson-Bollinger combination, the last one I can find is Bruce Reid and Chris Matthews in the late 80's.

    Beaten to it. =[

Should have said 'part timers not included'. Midgeh is more of a bowling all-rounder so he counts. I have never seen 2 leftie pacers play together for Oz before today. That prompted this thread/question.

Those who mentioned Reid and Matthews as the last left arm bowling combination for Australia (besides Johnson and Bollinger) are absolutely right.

    Left-arm combination a find for Australia | Cricket Features | Australia v Pakistan 2009/10 | Cricinfo.com
"Before Johnson and Bollinger came together for the first time in Sydney last summer, Australia had not played two left-arm fast men in a Test for more than 20 years, since Bruce Reid and Chris Matthews joined forces in 1986-87."

One each. You did the same to me with our Cook/Strauss comparisons on the SA thread.

I suppose the most interesting question is when was the last time before Reid and C. Matthews, if there was one?

I'd be surprised if they didn't find another one to play at least once with Davidson.

Yeah Meckiff surely must've played alongside Davidson at some point. CBA looking it's so near-certain.
