Somerset has a very impressive Test team considering he drew New Zealand.

Richardson
-
-
Jayawardene
Flower
-
Vettori
-
Bond
Bishop

And with Aus, Eng, SA, Pak and India to come he should have some pretty high quality players to come.

Besides that I think my fave Test teams are Matt's or Bagapaths.
I thought that the New Zealanders would be selected earlier rather than later (ditto with the West Indians) so considered my best strategy would be to get my three Kiwis out of the way, then work on the countries with more depth in the time period. ODIs are a different story though, not so optmistic about my chances there.

Yeah I definitely tried to lead out with what I thought were the countries with the least depth. I believe only the two of us and Michael are able to select an Australian Test player at this stage.

Yup exactly, not that I want to give away my strategy too much, but I can now afford to leave my Australian until deep in the draft with so many options available.

Yeah would be happy with my 3rd choice Aussie any day of the week.

I've done that in the past (select from weakest country to strongest). This time to try and mix things up a bit, I've tried to just go for the best player available at each stage and see where that leads me. I haven't quite stuck to that objective - I took my minnow guys when I could, but otherwise, happy with how mine has worked out so far. Surprised that a few other guys have tried to do the same.

My ODI "strategy" is not really a coherent one. We'll see how we go. So far I've got four bowlers with averages under 30, inc. two with averages of 21-22, plus a few good top order batsmen (albeit not the most explosive types), and Klusener to try and boost it at the end.

The ODI teams for almost everyone seem to be case of hoping for the best TBH. Last time I thought my ODI side was fantastic - I had Pollock and Vaas at 10 and 11, with other allrounders like Afridi and Klusener as well as a solid top order, and finished fourth from memory - so that could be a real lottery in terms of which side is deemed to be the best.

Your test team has a very good top order, and De Villiers and Streak are good bowlers but your bowling might end up being a bit thin, especially with the countries you have left to choose from.

Your ODI team, as Somerset said, looks a bit like a lot of our ODI teams in that there are some evident strengths, and some pretty big questions still to be resolved.

Considering I went for the batsmen first, I should have had a much better top order but meh, I thought the people I chose would have better averages. Did not check with Cricinfo first. At least I am a fan of all batsmen that I have chosen.

I did the ODI side for fun with no set strategy whatsoever. Deserve anything that I get for it.:p

Trust me, I just remembered a middle order bat from the 90s and shot myself in the dick in shock.
