What difference does Hogg having a great ODI series make? He's ALWAYS been a good one day bowler and he's ALWAYS been a poor FC bowler. It really makes little difference.Actually it's slightly different mate.. What happens if we play on a pitch similar to where Nathan Hauritz played his only Test? That wouldn't be a bad pitch to play 2 specialist spinners.. I can't really think of an occasion where you would need 11 left arm medium pacers however.
Cullun Bailey, so you would include him in the 25? What happens if Hogg has had a fantastic one day tournament just before a Test Series and the first test is turning ridicolous amounts.. Hogg for mine, he may NOT play another Test, but I still think he has a decent chance to add to his 4 Tests so far.
As for pitch conditions - given the complete uselessness of Hogg as a bowler at test and FC level, there would be very few pitches where he'd be more effective than Tait, Johnson or Hilfenhaus. Not to mention the fact that Bailey would be a better pick anyway.
No, I wouldn't include Bailey in the 25, because it'd be highly unlikely that I'd pick him, but I'd give him more chance than Hogg of playing a test match in the next year.
