Symo's injury how big a blow is this for australia?

I think Symo's injury can't have come at a more worse time than this, world cup is just around the corner and symo is one the most important of aussie odi player both with ball and the bat.

He should be back in no time, but yes i would agree that its a big blow. Atleast this gives Watson another crack at the OD's.

No doubt it hurts but australia has the depth to cover him, White can fill his role (not as good but first game in syd was impressive) aus isnt a one man team and should be fine. would prefer to see symonds playing though, a rare talent.

Provided he's fit for the WC, I don't see it as particularly important at all. If he's not, it's obviously a fairly big blow, as he's a fine player. There's probably adequate cover, but there's no doubt the team is stronger with Symonds than without him.

According to baggygreen.com.au symo is even doubtful starter for the early phase of the world cup. He lends unmatched balance to the side with his fielding, bowling, and batting. We are surely gonna miss him in every department.

Fingers crossed.
A good chance to look at the bowling of clarke, white, hodge and hussey under the punp, sides will more likely go after the 5th bowler since symmo is not there.

According to Fox News tonight, he's out for 12 weeks and will miss the World Cup.

oh my i just hope its just a rumour symo was himself saying that he is fast healer and would surely make it to the world cup squad. This surely is very disappointing to even think symo will not be there at the world cup.

Saw that thing on fox that is an experts view rather than what the case well maybe we will just have to wait and find out,i'd say adam voges will go to the chappelll hadlee trophy and get a few games especially in the event symmo won't be fit.

Nothing is finalised on symo yet, his surgery will take place on sunday and then an exact statement can be made how much time would it take for symo to get back in action.

There's always one poor devil...

Can it get worse than missing a World Cup through injury?

Poor guy.

I daresay that his injury will have minimal effect on Australia. No disrespect to him, just the depth of the Australia squad will easily be able to cope and still win.

Andrew Symonds > most late-over-specialist batsmen, and certainly every one in Australia.

The fact that Cameron White appears to be the closest they seem to think they can come to him says a bit.

Not that his absence will all that likely make much of a wave, but it'll certainly have a few bowlers breathing half a sigh.

Look its ok that you say that there is depth in the aussie squad, but symo is a unique player. If he is not there its like being short by 3 players one fielder, one bowler, one batsman, in every department of the game symo plays a role for us and its not that easy to replace him.
