Tell me Asnodkar won't get a match. He's an opener from Goa, and may be a quota selection. His batting average, despite playing in Plate, is quite low– even a few bowlers frmo other teams average so much, and he's a specialist batsman.adharcric said:
Harvinder is a little workhorse, who'll bowl excess overs and somehow pick up a wicket. He bowls a lot for Railways. They've reached the final thrice in the recent past, and on two occasions to draw with a first-innings lead, so I don't say they won either. It was rather unfortunate that they were relegated to Plate division, despite having at least five international prospects with them, because of first-innings leads they conceded, while Delhi, who lost more matches, stayed on. This is one team of ordinary players who come together for extraordinary performances. Every player there serves a purpose. Training and lodging facilities for this team are dreadfully inadequate, and can take quite a toll on some players, so it's good to see them come so far three times.Craig said:
You've mentioned the pace of the bowler twice, and frankly, you'd be lucky to find bowlers who can consistently bowl over 140k in India. It's surprising to find two or more in Sri Lanka, but none of the pacers who have played for India have been able to maintain that figure. That said, most leading strike bowlers in the game today bowl in the 125-135k range. They just have to put it to good use, by getting movement through the air or off the pitch, and getting the ball in the business area, while the fast bowler does his own thing.Pratyush said:

Look at Asnodkar's average from the last Ranji season. I must admit I didn't know much about him but the average does seem to justify his selection. Vidyut should definitely be here, but guys like Dhiman are quite new and haven't achieved much in domestic cricket yet. Khaleel is another guy who had a good average last season (I think) but may not be so great. Ojha is a young spinner with decent figures so no problem with him making it. The alternative is Ramkumar, so this move won't really hurt.Arjun said:
Zaheer worked up mediocre pace (134-135) regularly as did VRV. VRV was impressive in his later spell (or one of them) when he bowled 137 or so and really troubled the batsmen. Now 137 is nothing special, but the commentators were acting as if he was really working up special pace and saying that 137 is very good on this kind of pitch. Not sure what that means, but overall VRV and Zaheer bowled well. Balaji was fine, but I don't rate him as a very penetrative bowler at the moment.Arjun said:
