Well, I can make a pretty good stab at Somerset's for the coming season, assuming the overseas players turn out how they want them to:
Graeme Smith* - no explanation needed.
Marcus Trescothick - ditto.
Ricky Ponting - ditto.
Matthew Wood - talented, fluent young opening batsman who will be pushed down the order by Smith.
James Hildreth - flamboyant, aggressive, and very promising young right-hander. Bowls medium-slow dobbers which are useful in Twenty20 cricket.
Ian Blackwell - useful left-arm spinner and brutal, if unreliable, middle order bat.
Wesley Durston - aggressive right-hander, superb fielder and handy off-break bowler.
Carl Gazzard+ - superb gloveman and improving batsman, occasional one-day opener with plenty of shots.
Richard Johnson - experienced but injury-prone seamer, who is also capable of rapid lower-order runs on his day.
Andrew Caddick - former England bowler who is still capable of extracting movement from the country's most lifeless track, and who is a capable number 9 or 10.
Robert Woodman - young left-arm swing bowler who is an all-rounder at England U19 level, and who has potential with both bat and ball.
(EDIT: Adding reserve players)
Arul Suppiah - the only Malaysian to play FC cricket, a gritty top or middle order batsman and part-time left-arm spinner.
John Francis - watchful top order batsman and very occasional left-arm spinner.
Keith Parsons - the original KP (
), an experienced batsman with a cool head, who can also bowl some effective medium-pace.
Simon Francis - brother of John, nippy seam bowler who is a wicket-taker, but with a tendency to be expensive.
Gareth Andrew - a seam bowler and number 8 or 9 batsman who is, quite honestly, terrible.
Michael Parsons - no relation to Keith, and not much better than Andrew.
Michael Munday - young and inexperienced legspinner with only one FC wicket to his name, but with potential to be useful in future.
Hope that helps.
