I know. You're not talking to a baseball noob.

Check out the baseball thread in the general sports forum.

I'd say fitness, especially explosive fitness, is way more valuable in baseball than cricket. What cricket requires that baseball doesn't more the mental side of things.

Mental and stamina requirements are bigger in cricket. Explosive athleticism in baseball. Baseball is about execution and speed. Cricket is about endurance and finesse.

When did you get that idea? While sitting on the bench all day waiting to bat, or if you were done batting, back in the air conditioned office at the arena or at the hotel while your team bats its last innings? During tea break and lunch hour? During the four days off between matches?

Cricket is about staying awake, not enduring.

Baseball players are at the park 7 hours a day, play 162 out of 183 days (not including playoffs), travel at night to play in the next city, learn the tendencies and the approaches of 18 opposing teams overnight, and have the burden of both being in training and competing for a league championship simultaneously. They don't get to appear in random games against the same opponent for weeks at a time in contests without further meaning than the here and now, and face several times a week superstar pitching that can get them out, not whomever the opponent can press into service as a non-specialized player every so often or the good bowler who can be foiled by cowardly risk aversion and stalling tactics. They risk injuries from barrelling, headhunting, and repetitive stress.

That's what takes endurance and stamina.

    Here's a non-subtlety that doesn't have a cricket counterpart.

This produced nasty booing, headhunting and other repercussions that left bad blood. Doesn't that make a game interesting?

This is what happens if you fall asleep playing baseball. (Note: it cost the Dodgers the series, and about two days later, it cost Dodger Manager Don Mattingly his job.)

    No cricket counterpart.

    This is getting ridiculous now.

At first, it was basic questions. Innocent? Yeah.
    Then How many runs?

    Rodk, we got it. Baseball>cricket.

    End of discussion.

    You win.

Some of you noted the amount of time players spend learning the various hitting maneuvers. Nobody said anything about learning how to play in the field correctly. Here's a glimpse into that: the footwork at second base on a steal. It is one of about thousands of things that need to be mastered before you are allowed on the field (for your own safety).

    1. Always do when right is on your side.

    2. If I'm not mistaken, didn't you ask for this exact discussion? There was post after post about how baseball is child's play compared to cricket, invariably by people without any sense of it who needed to appreciate what was really happening, not their half-baked fantasies.

    3. There was also post after post about dumb I was about cricket and where was I getting the stuff that seemed logical to me from 50 years of following other sports that don't involve slowing the game to a snail's pace? These are the answers to those questions.

I never asked for a war between baseball and cricket. I simply stated to primarily discuss baseball in the baseball section in the General Sport Section of this forum.

Overstated. The two players, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel did about as well as one could expect for kids without any prior baseball experience. Neither emerged from the lowest professional leagues, but they did not embarrass themselves the least. Rinku ended up having surgery and is now doing pro wrestling. https://i.imgur.com/66Kw2XD.jpg Dinesh retired and is pursuing a post sports life.
