I doubt it, as they'll be in SA till the middle of the month.

It will be a quality world eleven if those players mentioned are all confirmed. I wonder if the World XI should also include a quality wicket keeper like Sangakkara and another Aussie pace bowler such as Tait and someone else to strengthen the batting (in place of Bewett).

    Oh Lord above.................
I thought "Rest Of" games had finished with 1970..........
I mean, I can understand wanting to make-up for lost revenue, but really, Rest Of v one country games are such a pointless act.
Please, please don't let the games get any official status.

So NZ getting match practise and revenue is pointless is it?

Of course, provided the games are given equal status to the Packer matches, it's a might-as-well-then scenario - if there's any officialisation, I'd prefer it not.

Well, we need it - NZC are facing a loss of $3M+ if this doesn't work.

When is the NZ squad to be announced? Any hints as to who's picked (besides Fleming, he's an autopick).

Well I'd agree that the pressure is on the Auckland public to vindicate NZC. This is a 'replacement' tour after all, yet in Auckland's case there was nothing to replace. They had their Boxing Day match.

In saying that though, I'm a little bit sick of NZC being on the bones of their a*se all the time. Fancy not even being able to afford reserve days for the State Shield any more - the West Coast might finish mid-table!

Sorry to the Hamiltons, Hawke's Bays and Otagos, but with your populations under 200,000 I have to support the decision. I know the local associations make some decent money through ODI hospitality, so in a perfect world NZC would compensate that loss.

But it wasn't just NZC who lost money on the cancelled matches. The OCA lost thousands on the cancelled Queenstown one dayer.

Yeah I acknowledge that - I heard Blair Furlong at the weekend saying the same thing about Central Districts.

Ideally the NZC would take the International XI to Auckland, get a very big crowd, then pay out the OCA and co. what they were budgeting for.

If Langer puts in some good performances he will be pushing for a spot for sure...

How fantastic would it be if the Team was to be Captained by Warne and Murali was Vice Captain ?

I would just like to watch them bowl in tandem. Watching Warne and Vettori tonight was something special.
Only two states to be in - Queensland and drunk.

It would be awesome !! Agree seeing Warne and Vettori bowl in Tandem tonight was brilliant .

But then Ponting who obviously has a way of knowing when to make the right changes, brought Goughy on and bingo... there was a break through !!
