When will England have an injury free team??

Rich2001

International Captain
Well with the amount of cricket we play...I can say never

The English board have bought in Central Contracts, which mean that an England international will only turn out for his county for about 4 or 5 games out of a maxium of: -

16 - 4 day games
16 - 1 day games
8 - B&H cup
5 - C&G Cup
+ possiblity of tourist matches

So in total 45+ matches or equivalent of 93+ days of cricket.

So the problem is that if a player is contracted then they never play apart from internationals so are running the risk of injury through lack of training and keeping the correct mussles etc lose for games and most importantly lossing form, you never have the games to improve techique etc or get form back

Or

If you are not contarted then you have 93 days of cricket where you will suffer tiredness/burnout, pulling mussles bowling, being hit while batting etc

They need a happy medium, which doesn't seem like happening...soon anyway
