Slightly better day today, due in part to the oppo batting on (despite having logged on overnight) and killing time in the game, as well as enabling me to get all three bowling points. Should be able to survive tomorrow and get the draw now.

butterfingersXI were 492/3 after Day 1:

Close of play:

butterfingersXI: 682/10 (169.2) Westwood 4/170 (45), Liddle 3/112 (24.2)
The Heath CC: 112/4 (50) Singh 25, Caldwell 21*, Bartlett 21*

Absolutely turgid stand between Singh (25 from 103 balls) and Gardiner (18 from 82 balls) was ended with the score on 79/4. YP Caldwell and Bartlett set about steadying the ship, and will hopefully be able to carry on tomorrow and get a few batting points.

Was furious at my remarkable bowler before lunch (Tuck 15-2-54-0 yesterday evening + this morning). Comes back and takes a wicket third ball.

172-4 defending 251 and into the respectables. Game on.
Dynamo Morpork 251 all out (James 66, Porter 65; Barnard 8/40)
The Bosstones 222 all out (Oakes 84; Harris 3/61, Tuck 3/66)
Dynamo Morpork 199 for 1 (Herbert 117*, James 57)
Dynamo Morpork lead by 228 runs

Question is when to declare really. Scored at 5 an over with Herbert around, can't see them scoring at more than 4. So presumably something like 360 off 90 overs.

There's actually a tiny chance that I could win this. Bowled them out for 103, which is weird considering I bowled them out for 557 in the first innings, leaving me 443 to chase.

Lets hope my batsmen can do something special.

Ok so basically they got 28 first. I followed with 684/4 on the first day. I decided i would try and get to the third day, to maximise profits. I got all out for like 1300, with about 20 overs left in the second day. Now the score looks like this.

End of Over 9 (4 runs). Surfdale CC: 10-5, runrate=1.11 (1st Inn: 28-10)
Trail by 1259 runs. (Oceans XI 1297-10)
Lundon 5-3-5-3
Percy* 3 (6 balls)
Du toit 0 (0 balls)

10 overs remaining. This is the only time i don't want my bowlers to get wickets quickly.
Come on Surfdale, bats straight boys. lol

Looking good for a draw here, one session left. Gun innings by Quintin to get us this close, fair captain's knock.

Been out of it recently, checked on Elmes has FC scores from the first 3 matches of:

511, 703 and 349.

Come to think of it they were all draws. I must be doing something wrong here.

Having been bowled out for 41 on the first morning, I knew I was in deep trouble. Managed to get my opponents 58/4 though, one wicket away from a real numpty tail...and then the afternoon batting thing happened and they recovered to 314ao, early on the 2nd day.

I ordered my lot to bloody well not throw away their wickets...and it worked! Sandwith and Reed put on almost 300 runs for the 3rd wicket, and I'm currently 438/6. Hopefully I'll eke out a lead of 200 before setting John on them -- he destroyed Rickmansworth's top order last week, and I really need him to do the same today!

UPDATE: Sandwith's just got a double-century, from just 201 balls! Not bad for someone set defensive for his first 180 runs. 449/6.

That's my first BT double-ton since the beta testing days...and this doesn't really count as it's FC.

Pretty happy to get away with a draw in that match. Looks like the way our league is I'll be facing this side quite a bit in the next couple seasons, so i reckon they will be a good benchmark to see how much my team improve over the next two seasons.

Abeysekera really dominated Jeithoon and all my bowlers. But i reckon by the end of the season Jeithoon will have his number or atleast be pushing him pretty hard. My batsmen did really well in the end to get us a draw, Quintin and Obeysekera were so gun with the bat, the perfect innings in the situation.

The big question is where to bat Muralitharan next game. He got left stranded twice batting at 7 and probably missed out on a couple 100s. He will be my first remarkable batsmen in two weeks and probably already is my 2nd best bat now. Against sides like this who can bowl me out twice he really doesn't save much PFLs batting low. The next side I play in FC has a decent bowling attack as well, so I might bat him at 5.

Any suggestions from the guys with similar all rounders?

It's a pity you can't re-jig the batting order for the 2nd innings. Unfortunately, I only have one all-rounder, my WK, and his low stamina and multiple nets mean that I won't be able to play him often until at least the end of the season -- I was easing off on his nets for fear of too high a wage, until I found out how much cash I'd get from FC.

My game could still end up with any of the four results -- I managed to set a fourth innings target of 214, despite being bowled out for 41 in my first innings...and my opponent has 82 overs (at almost 2.6) to get there.

He's currently 43/2 from 20...so 171 from 62 required.

Should be a grandstand finish!

At tea, all four results were looking possible. Unforutnately, the two batsmen were set and had no intention of giving their wickets away.

Anyway, it was all looking bleak, with Lea tonking Brooker around mightily. Gibb comes on at the other end...and gets him, as part of a wicket maiden!

That's 23 runs for the win, and exactly 10 overs left. Oddly enough, I'm hoping NOT to get a wicket, as that'd put the decent Deakin on rather than Haldane (knackered) and Jagger (proper numpty).

Looks like I'll either lose this one or draw it...and it's looking like the former.

39 balls left.
21 runs for the win.
Gibb and John bowling, two supremely good defensive bowlers.
One knackered batsman, one 3k BTR numpty.
I love this game.
