Younis named as captain

Due to Inzamam Ul-Haq’s ban, Younis Khan will lead Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy.

As a result of the recent hearing, Inzamam has to miss four ODI matches. Despite the ban, he is still included in Pakistan’s squad, and could play in the final if Pakistan make it that far.

Khan being given the leadership does not come as a surprise. He has been Pakistan’s vice-captain, and has already led his country in two Tests and ODIs, winning and losing one of each.

Upon his appointment, the 28 year-old said: “It is a great honour.”

He was also optimistic about his side’s chances, saying: “This current team is a well-knit side, If we play to our potential, we can do well.”
