Tait ruled out of Bangladesh

Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has been ruled out of his side’s tour of Bangladesh with a back injury. He picked up the injury in the nets during the final Test of his side’s tour of South Africa.

No major damage has been detected, but it has been decided that he should miss the forthcoming tour as a precaution, given his history of injury problems. No replacement has been named as yet – suffice to say it will not be Mick Lewis.

There remain doubts over the fitness of opener Justin Langer, whose 100th Test was ruined by the blow to the head he received from Makhaya Ntini after one ball, and seamer Mike Kasprowicz, who has also complained of back problems. Decisions will be made on the two of them over the coming days.
