Sri Lanka start NZ tour well

Sri Lanka have started their tour of New Zealand well ending day one of their three day tour match against the Otago Volts on 141-3.

The morning session was rained out with play getting underway after lunch.

The tourists struggled early losing Sanath Jayasuriya for a golden duck and Upul Tharanga for 19.

Captain Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara recovered the situation and together put on a 84 run partnership before Jayawardene was dismissed for 48.

When bad light stopped play Kumar Sangakkara was not out on 51 with Tillakaratne Dilshan at the other end on 14.
